The Bike Parade

I've owned a lot of motorcycles - I've been riding since I was eight years old. Here's a few of the more memorable ones:

My first legal street bike was this one - a Honda CB 750-4. I ended up painting it white. This thing is mondo-heavy, and I owned it when I lived in England (near Cambridge). It was the only transportation I had, and it only rained in England on the days I rode it.

When I got to North Dakota, I bought this Yamaha Virago. This is also a very solid bike, and the first of many "Harley Copies" I bought. I could just never bring myself to spend the money on an HD, but hey, maybe someday.

It started becoming more important to try and kill myself on a bike, so I went with the Ninja. Great bike - but a little small for the open road.

This is a Yamaha V-Star. If you are looking for a nailed copy of the lean back bikes, this one will do you right. Mine was a 650, which turned out to be great for commuting but a little light for the open road.

So what does one do when one's bike is too small to drive across Florida to attend Bike Week? Why, you buy a BMW K1200LT, of course. Heated grips, adjustable windshield, reverse gear, 10-CD changer, etc., and 782 pounds to pick up when you drop it! What a nice ride for distance.

The Suzuki V-Strom is an awesome all-around bike. I bought this one just before we moved up to Seattle, knowing the big BMW wouldn't like the massive traffic we faced.

And then I saw this - a BMW K1200RS - and I had to have it. Totally impractical, of course, so it didn't last.

And now I have this one - a Suzuki Intruder, although now it has bags, highway pegs, better headers, and a thick windshield. It's a very nice ride. We'll see how long this one lasts!
